A New York man who lost his wallet was not only surprised to have it returned but also to read the note that came along with it when he got it back.
Reilly Flaherty was at aconcert in Brooklyn when he lost the wallet, and it wasn't until he was on his way back home in an Uber that he realized what had happened, USA Today reports.
Flaherty had the Uber driver take him back to the concert venue, where he discovered that the wallet was gone. Two weeks later, he got an envelope in the mail with all of the contents of his wallet as well as a note.
"I found your wallet and your drivers license and your address so here’s your credit cards and other important stuff," the anonymous note read.
"I kept the cash because I needed weed, the metrocard because well the fare’s $2.75 now, and the wallet cause it’s kinda cool," the note continues. "[E]njoy the rest of your day. Toodles, Anonymous."
Flaherty told USA Today that though he was glad his valuable cards were returned, he wasn't sure it was an entirely kind gesture.
"I’ve never been so conflicted about a nice gesture," he said. "I had already gone to get a new license, and had already gotten all my cards replaced. So basically it was useless to me.”
Flaherty originally posted the note to his Instagram account on Feb. 16. He captioned it, "[T]hanks.. I think?"
The Instagram post is now going viral, garnering over 350 likes in one day.
