72-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth

For the last 46 years, Daljinder Kaur and her husband have been trying for a baby. It just didn’t work out in their favor, and for decades they were childless and alone. However, after undergoing IVF, Kaur, at the age of 72, has finally gotten pregnant and given birth to a baby. She has since been interviewed by an Asian news agency and declares that she has no regrets about becoming a mother at her advanced age – but she does admit that it is extremely challenging.

After Kaur gave birth to her first child while in her seventies, she watched her health decline rapidly. Carrying a life and birthing it into the world took a toll on her elderly body, and was more challenging than she expected. And once she gave birth, she then had to be constantly on the clock to take care of the newborn baby boy named Armaan.

Since the birth, she started suffering from high blood pressure and pain in her joints. But that does not mean she regrets having her son – to the contrary, the 72-year-old Kaur said it is the best thing she has ever done and a dream come true for her and her husband.

“Since he’s been crawling, I’m on my hands and knees, and it’s hard,” she told the Cover Asia Press. “My body can’t take it. It’s been harder than I thought.”

Everyone knows that being a parent is very hard, but if a person becomes a first parent when they’re in their seventies, it could be immeasurably difficult.

“My blood pressure has suffered, and I get tired very easily now,” she said. “I’ve seen several doctors, but they just give me medicines and a diet plan.”

There’s not much for doctors to do for the elderly parent. Because she has a baby in her seventies, it is going to be extremely difficult to fix anything except for symptoms. The cause is that she has to chase a baby around and doesn’t have the body for it.

Because her body is failing in her old age, the new mother is worried that her baby will be left alone.

“I’m worried for Armaan. I have to take care of my health, but I have to take care of Armaan, too.”

For the last four-and-a-half decades, Kaur and her husband, Mohinder Singh Gill, have tried to have a baby. But it just didn’t work for them. That’s why they decided to give it one last shot using an IVF. When they used medical intervention, it worked immediately. They had to wait for the treatment because they could not afford the expensive medical intervention.

Mohinder still works as a farmer and is eight-years-old.

While Kaur was in her sixties, they saw an advertisement for IVF and decided to go for it after they came upon some money for inheriting the land.

“When we saw the (IV) advert, we thought we should also give it a try as I badly wanted to have a baby of my own.”

Now she is overwhelmed, and her body is failing her.

What do you think about this mom’s advanced age?
