In the latest in the series of stories about seeing an image of Jesus/Virgin Mary/Mother Teresa in a cinnamon bun/grilled cheese sandwich/potato chip, a Massachusetts woman now says she sees Jesus on her iron.
Mary Jo Coady says she walked into her daughter's room last week and saw her iron sitting upright on a bureau. The bottom is stained, like many irons are. Only this stain, says Coady, is the spitting image of Jesus Christ.
"I see his eyes, his nose, his whole face and I was like, 'That's Jesus looking at us,'" Coady told the regional newspaper The Eagle-Tribune.
Thinking she might be the only one who saw the image in the rust stain, she showed it to her cynical daughters. "They wouldn't believe this if it hit them in the head, and they were like, 'Mom, that's Jesus looking at us,'" Coady said.
Coady says this could not have come at a better time for her. Recently she separated from her husband, had her hours cut at work, and had to move out of the house.
"It just gave me a sign that life is going to be good," Coady said. "I think he's listening."
While there's money to be made off of things like this -- the Jesus potato chip sold on eBay for $3,000 -- Coady says she is not looking to profit from what she considers a sign from God.
So what are her plans? "Buy a new iron and keep this one in my closet."
