A California state employee is being investigated after video surfaced of her allegedly hitting and throwing coffee on a Muslim man who was praying in a park.
Rasheed Albeshari, 31, posted the video (below) online of his interaction with the woman.
“After praying, this lady approached us and started yelling at us that we're brainwashed for believing in Allah, 'Allah is evil' she said," Albeshari wrote in a Facebook post on Dec. 7 alongside the video. "I started video taping her, I ,also, was hit by an umbrella before taking a shower of coffee right on my face. And what happened next was this."
The woman was later identified as Denise Slader, a program technician with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s Adult Parole Operations, the LA Times reports. Albeshari and his friends while they were praying and playing volleyball in the park — a regular Sunday activity for the group — when Slader approached them.
“The people you tortured are going to be in eternity and heaven," Slader tells Albeshari and his friends in the video. "You are very deceived by Satan. Your mind has been taken over, brainwashed and you have nothing but hate."
A park ranger then approaches the group and attempts to get Slader to stop harassing them, but she continues to exchange words with Albeshari. She then appears to hit him before throwing coffee on him.
“This kind of intolerance is totally unacceptable,” district spokesman Carolyn Jones said. “It’s just appalling on 50 different levels.”
