The leader of President Donald Trump's cabinet Bible study group recently asserted that God only hears the prayers of Christians who live "righteously."

According to Right Wing Watch, Ralph Drollinger of Capitol Ministries made the announcement in his July Bible study guide:

What every country or state most needs are righteous men and women beseeching God’s presence in their personal and State affairs. Do not be deceived by syncretistic, "prayer breakfasts:" God only hears the prayers of leaders and citizens who are upright, who live righteously through faith in Jesus Christ.

Drollinger then quoted two verses from Proverbs that do not mention Jesus, but were written to the Israelites in the Old Testament, which doubles as the Hebrew Bible. Drollinger went on to write that those who reject Christianity do not have their prayers heard:

Scripture is clear; those who are at enmity with Him — who passively or actively reject the Son of God — their prayers are worthless and go unheard. And the State suffers for want of His blessing. The righteous leader is a man of potent prayer.

CBN noted in April that Drollinger's cabinet prayer group includes Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, and Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price, along with U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, CIA Director Mike Pompeo and Environmental Protection Agency head Scott Pruitt.

Drollinger told CBN about his Bible studies, which he also does for members of the House and Senate:

In terms of a country's health and direction, when its leaders are seeking God, the nation is in a position to be blessed by God in ways that are "far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think."

This has been a wonderful time of prayer and fellowship as I am presently teaching through the Sermon on the Mount, as well as handing out my weekly written Bible study as a homework assignment on a particular topic.

Fusion reported in April that Drollinger has previously called Catholicism "the world’s largest false religion," once described homosexuality as an "abomination," believes that female lawmakers who keep working after having kids are sinners, and believes that government welfare programs are un-Christian.

Drollimger reportedly once wrote: "It is safe to say that God is a Capitalist, not a Communist."
