Televangelist Compares Trump To St. Peter (Video)

Televangelist and convicted felon Jim Bakker compared Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to one of Jesus' disciples, Peter, on Oct. 27 (video below).

Bakker was promoting videos and a book entitled "God's Chaos Candidate," written by pro-Trump Pastor Lance Wallnau, when he tried to draw comparisons between Trump and Peter, notes Right Wing Watch.

Bakker recalled how Jesus told Peter to follow him while Peter was fishing.

"He didn't hesitate, just like Trump wouldn't," Bakker told his audience. "Trump would have jumped out of the boat, whatever!"

Bakker noted that Peter cut a man's ear off, cursed and swore, and denied knowing Jesus, but also preached amazing sermons to thousands of people.

Wallnau told Bakker:

Jesus chose a businessman to give him governmental keys to restore the kingdom. Jesus is putting his hand on a Peter right now; like you’re just saying, it’s a businessman. Trump is a businessman with the keys of the kingdom right now to wreck what hell has been doing over the United States.

As a matter of Biblical record, Peter was a fisherman who never held government office.

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus told Peter: "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it," according to Bible Hub.

Bakker then made an apparent public endorsement of Trump, according to Right Wing Watch:

America’s got one last chance, and if you don't understand, I'm telling you, there is a shaking coming. And that shaking, I believe, is going to bring the greatest revival. Things are going to happen. And God wants to give us someone who has enough sense to manage this country in chaos.

During the same program, Wallnau shared his conspiracy theory about a group of "leftist progressives" that created 527s (political advocacy groups) to hit "hard against conservatives and Christians," reports Right Wing Watch:

They are all independent organizations coordinated by one group of people like us who handle the money. So they’ll show up where there’s race issues -- boom, and make them inflammatory. They’ll show up where there’s a campus issue -- boom, and make it inflammatory. Then the media machine kicks in, Media Matters, which is run by one of their organizations, and they come in and they get it into the social media channels so it’s in Facebook and everything. And you would think all of America’s ablaze. It’s a handful of funded, executed strategists with entities called 527s that are discipling America.

As a matter of record, there are Christian organizations that do political advocacy, conservative 527 groups and wealthy foundations/individuals that work together as well.

Wallnau added: "We don’t realize it’s a remnant operating strategically through organizations that are intent on shifting the American culture and discipling the country. And that fog that’s on Christians is the collective witchcraft that comes over the Body of Christ because there’s spirits being authorized to be released."
