Joe Kennedy, a football coach at Bremerton High School in Washington State, is planning to sue the local school district because it has told him not to pray on the 50-yard line after games because student players join him in the prayer (video below).
The Liberty Institute, a Christian law firm that represents Kennedy, told The Daily Caller on Oct. 26 that they will be filing the lawsuit because the school district has threatened to fire the Christian coach who refuses to stop praying with the students.
The Liberty Institute claims that Kennedy is simply exercising his First Amendment rights, and that he does not ask students to join him, which they've been doing since 2008.
However, now, the Satanic Temple chapter in Seattle claims that a student at the school has requested them to hold a post-game invocation on the field where Kennedy will be praying.
The Satanic Temple told the Friendly Atheist via email that the group will be dressed in "black robes, heads covered like Sith Lords." A member named Lilith will carry an incense burner on each arm as the group marches to the 50-yard line where Kennedy will be.
Lilith will then hand the incense to each participant to begin the invocation, which will include a gong and the chant “Ava Satanas!” (Hail Satan).
The group is encouraging students and other people, who want to join in, "to wear black to show solidarity," but has also offered not to perform their ceremony if the school district stops Kennedy from praying.
