President Obama’s weekly speech landed on the Fourth of July and internet commenters have pointed out that the President forgot to mention one big thing in the address: God.
The President began his speech talking about his family’s plans to spend the holiday, which also happens to be his daughter Malia’s birthday, barbequing with “several hundred members of our military and their families.” He said that he is grateful to those in the military for “their service and their sacrifice.”
President Obama mentioned the founding fathers declaring independence 239 years ago and said “all of us are created equal, endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights including the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
Although the President mentioned “our Creator,” many people are still offended that he neglected to say “God” and have called him out for it.
The Blaze said that Presidents, including Obama himself, usually sign off with a variation of “may God bless the United States Of America,” but Obama left that out of this address.
Instead, the President closed with, “Thanks, everybody. From my family to yours, have a safe and happy Fourth of July.”
Twitter users and YouTube commenters have had some choice words for the President after this omission. Users have referred to him as a “Godless little man” and “an atheist with Muslim tendencies,” among other things.
