Sen. Ted Cruz: Pray to Stop 'Assault on Marriage' (Video)

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, was one of the featured speakers last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa, at the "Pastors and Pews" event.

In a video (below) recorded by the Christian Broadcasting Network, Cruz attacked the U.S. Supreme Court's "five unelected judges" who ruled in favor of gay marriage on California's Proposition 8, noted

Cruz did not mention that the U.S. Constitution, which he claims to hold dear, established the "unelected" Supreme Court in 1789 via ratification.

"The citizens of California went to vote and they voted and said in the state of California we want marriage to be the traditional union of one man and one woman, and the U.S. Supreme Court, as a result of its decision, said you have no right to define marriage in your state, we know better," Cruz said. "We’re facing an assault on marriage."

However, Cruz failed to mention that the "traditional union of one man and one woman" is still legal in California, as is gay marriage.

"As pastors, each of you has a special responsibility and a special ability to speak to your congregations and to mobilize the people, and mobilize them more than anything to pray," Cruz said.
