A woman identifying herself as a U.S. Postal Service employee announced on Facebook on June 13 that she would lose or destroy any mail with the new Eid Greetings stamp, which signifies two Muslim holidays.
Facebook user Catherine An Ray reposted an anti-Muslim piece about the stamp by blogger Pamela Geller and added: "A US Mail Carrier, I can personally assure everyone here that anything with this stamp on it will be lost or destroyed in the system before is makes delivery. Guaranteed. Happy Ramadan," Raw Story reports.
"At this time we cannot confirm if the person involved in this matter is a postal employee, but we can assure you that the incident is being fully investigated and that the Postal Service will take whatever action is appropriate," Toni DeLancey, a USPS spokeswoman said, notes BuzzFeed News.
Ray did not respond to questions from the media on her Facebook.
Ray has published numerous anti-Muslim statements on her Facebook page, and expressed her support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, according to Raw Story.
In one posting, Ray mocked the shooting death of British lawmaker Jo Cox: "Wait. Can't be. Guns are strictly prohibited in that district. How could this lady have gotten shot if guns are illegal? ... Please I need a piece of shirt liberal to answer this for me."
In another posting, Ray noted in all caps: "A STORM IS COMING. ISLAMOBAMA STYLE WE ARE ISIS!!...AGENDA POWER...AMERICANISLAMICS THEIR WAR EXPANDS OUTSIDE THE MIDEAST... MOSQUES ARE THEIR FORTRESS !!! PRAY FOR TRUMP OR EVEN MUSLIM WILL NOT BE SAFE !!"
The EID Greetings stamp has been released almost every year since 2001, according to the USPS via BuzzFeed News. It is dedicated to “the two most important festivals — or eids — in the Islamic calendar."
