Phil Robertson Says He's Trying to Help Gay People (Video)

"Duck Dynasty" TV reality star Phil Robertson recently claimed that he was trying to "help" gay people during an appearance at the Rock the South festival in Cullman, Ala.

Robertson, who compared homosexuality to bestiality and claimed black people were happy under Jim Crow laws in a 2013 interview with GQ magazine, assured the audience that his intentions towards gay people were honorable.

"I'm actually a nice man," stated Robertson. "I'm trying to help those poor souls and turn them to Jesus."

Robertson also urged the crowd to vote against "ungodly" politicians in November, noted

"Hey, Alabama, whatever you do, register to vote for this presidential election," stated Robertson. "Go vote for the House and the Senate, too. Vote this ungodly bunch out of Washington, D.C."
