Phil Robertson: Convert Trump To Christianity (Video)

Reality TV star Phil Robertson recently said Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump should be converted to Christianity (video below).

Robertson, who stars in "Duck Dynasty," gave his spiritual and political advice during an interview with Republican Colorado state Rep. Gordon Klingenschmitt on his "Pray In Jesus Name" Internet program earlier in July, according to

Robertson, who originally supported Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas for president, stated that he didn't like Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's record, but said of Trump:

I hear what he says, I hear what he does. I've requested, sent multiple people to him and they all laugh when I said it. I said but the ultimate for America would be we convert Mr. Trump. That way all the dirt they're going to drag up on him and all the whatever indiscretions he's been involved in and the sins he's committed, if he would but be born again, he could then tell them, "That's the old me, I've been born again, this is the new Donald Trump."

After explaining how Trump could escape his past through conversion to Christianity, Robertson suggested himself as part of Trump's cabinet as a "spiritual advisor."

Conservative Christian leader Dr. James Dobson said in June that he had heard that Trump had become a Christian and was converted by controversial televangelist Paula White.

"I can absolutely tell you that Mr. Trump has a relationship with God," White recently told Politico. "He is a Christian, he accepts Jesus as his Lord and savior."

White would not specifically confirm Dobson's assertion, but added that there are many "moments" when Trump has talked about his Christian faith.

White has played a key role in putting together Trump's advisory board, which includes Dobson and pastor Mark Burns.

Burns told the news site: "Pastor Paula had a hand and is having a hand in his faith walk," and added that White has "the authority to say if he has a real authentic relationship with God."

It's not clear what that "authority" is.
