Pastor Danny Banks, of the Myrtle Beach Christian Church in South Carolina, compared sex education to rattlesnakes and cobras during a sermon on July 26 (video below).
Banks preached that what he termed lies from materialism, humanism, secular humanism, new age movement and liberalism were coming across the airwaves on TV and radio, reports RawStory.com.
"You see, a viper is a very dangerous thing. I know people who wouldn’t think at all of letting their little children go play with a bunch of cobras or rattlesnakes, but they put them in environments every day and the vipers are all around them, striking of what we believe, teaching them immorality.
"Sex education today doesn’t teach you to abstain, it gives you a free condom. That's what it gives you. It tells you not to get pregnant. That’s what it teaches. I’ve read their book, teaching young people today in schools and even in their families that it’s OK now to be heterosexual or homosexual or whatever-sexual it is, just be some sexual thing.
"When is the last time you heard anybody in schools teach and preach and even in churches to abstain that which is evil, to save yourself for the beautiful thing called marriage. But you see it’s just like viper eggs, they are everywhere around us."
The Myrtle Beach Christian Church website states, "If what you believe isn't true would you want to know it? At MBCC we teach you what the Bible actually says, not what men believe or claim that the Bible says."
Banks appears to be preaching from Isaiah 59:3. The entire chapter of Isaiah 59 does not mention sex ed, but is actually a plea for the Israelites to stop sinning and is a prediction of future blessings, notes theologian John MacArthur.
