Oprah Gives Controversial Pastor His Own TV Show (Video)

"The Book Of John Gray" is a new reality TV show on Oprah Winfrey's cable channel, the Oprah Winfrey Network (video below).

His new show is described on Oprah's website:

The Book of John Gray is a dramedy docu-follow hybrid about the life of John Gray and his uniquely humorous way of helping people. John, who is an associate pastor at Houston's Lakewood Church under Pastor Joel Osteen, is just beginning to achieve success.

Known for his loud, hilarious, unconventional ways, John will give viewers unprecedented and intimate access into his church and home life. John uses his deep convictions, hard-earned wisdom and famous sense of humor to help people overcome their greatest challenges, all while facing his own everyday struggles as a husband and father.

Unicorn Booty notes some of Gray's controversial tweets in the past that disparaged former President Barack Obama and the LGBT community:

The Christian President of the United States believes something different from the God he serves. Anyone else a little concerned?

[H]omosexuality is no different from fornication, adultery, lying or any other sin God was clear about. It's all the same 4 those who believe.

Everyone is allowed to get married based on state laws. But dishonoring [people] of faith by adding clear church imagery is wrong. #Grammy's

I won't shop [Target] again. My son is a boy. Boys like certain toys. That's not a gender or sexuality issue. You've overstepped and u will see.

During a 2013 appearance on TBN, Gray stated: "Speaking of husbands and wives, how many married folk we got in here right now? How many people know covenant is God honoring? Covenant is right. I don’t care what the world says, they are trying to redefine marriage. Don’t listen."

The Friendly Atheist described Gray's message at a Men's Conference in Texas in October 2011:

[M]en should stay virgins until marriage, and then remain faithful to their wives. All things being equal, not a bad message for the average American male ... but I really could have done without the explicit homophobia. As Gray’s primary subject matter was marriage, he just couldn’t help himself from making several clear condemnations of same-sex marriage specifically, and homosexuality in general.
