Rev. Franklin Graham appeared on the "Washington Watch" radio show yesterday where he was interviewed by host and Family Research Council president Tony Perkins.
Perkins claimed that President Obama refused to acknowledge what is motivating ISIS, which Perkins said were "their radical beliefs" (video below).
According to RightWingWatch.org, Rev. Graham replied:
And Tony, one of the problems we have, and, the president, his father was a Muslim, and his stepfather was a Muslim. [He] lived in Indonesia and went to Muslim schools. His mother must have been a Muslim, uh, I don't, we don't know that, but she married two Muslim men, so there must have been something there. And the framework that our president has growing up, his influences in his life was that of Islam.
In 2006, President Obama said his father was born a Muslim, but was actually an atheist, noted The New York Times.
According to the New York Daily News, President Obama stated in 2007:
My father was from Kenya, and a lot of people in his village were Muslim. He didn't practice Islam. Truth is he wasn't very religious. He met my mother. My mother was a Christian from Kansas. I've always been a Christian ... The only connection I've had to Islam is that my grandfather on my father's side came from that country. But I've never practiced Islam.
