Most Republicans Believe Jesus Would Oppose Health Care for All, Says Poll

The New Testament in the Bible is filled with passages of Jesus Christ healing people without charge. The only time Jesus didn't heal someone was when Lazarus died, but was brought back from the dead by Jesus.

However, according to a new poll by, most Republicans believe that Jesus would not support health care for all people. reports that 1,000 U.S. adults were polled during July 1-2.

Respondents were asked what Jesus would do about healthcare, gun control, raising taxes on the wealthy, climate change and other present-day issues.

When it came to healthcare, only 23 percent of Republicans said Jesus would support universal healthcare.

However, 82 percent of Democrats and 52 percent of independents said Jesus would support healthcare for all people.

Last year, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R) told Christian talk show host James Dobson that God would repeal Obamacare, noted (audio below).

"I believe God is going to answer our prayers and we'll be freed from the yoke of Obamacare," said Rep. Bachmann. "I believe that's going to happen and we saw step one last week with the repeal of Obamacare in the House. We have two more steps. We serve a mighty God and I believe it can happen."

In the Bible, Jesus says in Matthew 25: 35-36, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
