Minister Larry DuRant, 58, Accused of Sex Acts with Young Girls (Video)

Larry DuRant of Word International Ministries in Sumter, S.C., has been arrested for allegedly performing sex acts on three girls — one as young as 11.

Authorities claim that the minister told the victims in private prayer sessions that sex acts would prevent them from "liking females, contracting sexual diseases or becoming pregnant."

DuRant, 58, was originally investigated in May after the parents of one of the alleged victims spoke to their daughter about the prayer sessions (video below).

According to, "DuRant was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor between 11 and 14 years old as well as four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct."

"The manner in which he lured them in, we feel that at some level there's a strong potential that there may be other victims we're talking about a span of, right now, over two years," said Deputy Chief Alvin Holston to WLTX-TV.

Court documents state that DuRant has offered private prayer sessions at two Word International Ministry centers and his home since 2011. One of the victims, 18, said that DuRant told her not to tell anyone of their "private prayer session" or she would "go against God's will."

In addition to the charges for the sexual assaults, DuRant has also been charged for allegedly forging the name of the grandmother of one of the victims on a quit claim deed (a quick claim for property) and filing it with a county office.
