Megachurch Pastor Accused of Bullying Church Leaders, Members (Video)

Pastor Mark Driscoll of Mars Hill Church, a megachurch in Seattle, Wash., has been accused of cursing, bullying and intimidating pastors and church members.

21 pastors, who have either been fired or left the church on their own accord, recently filed a complaint with the elders of Mars Hill Church documenting Pastor Driscoll's alleged bizarre behavior.

"For me it was hard. I had been silent for seven years," Lief Moi, one of the pastors who signed the complaint, told KOMO 4 News (video below).

Moi says he resigned from Mars Hill Church in 2007 due to his own behavior.

"Part of me felt relief. The biggest thing is a deep compassion and concern for Mark and his family," added Moi.

The 11-page complaint claims that Pastor Driscoll has a history of "verbally assaulting others," "putting people down, caricaturing and dismissing," "verbally abusive to people who challenge him" and creating "a culture of fear."

Pastor Driscoll, who once questioned whether or not President Obama was a Christian, is also accused of using "profanity in discussion with a church elder."

Mars Hill Church, which has strongly defended Pastor Driscoll for years and dismissed his critics as hurting the cause of Jesus Christ, released this statement to KOMO 4 News:

We take these allegations seriously and we are thankful that we have a process in place where allegations will be reviewed by our Board and our elders. As it is relatively new that these former elders submitted this, at this time we don't have any information on how long that process will take or what the outcome will be, but we look forward to having Pastor Mark back from vacation this Sunday.

According to psychologist and blogger Warren Throckmorton, who has written numerous articles about Pastor Driscoll and Mars Hill Church, several sources tell him that Pastor Driscoll is planning to make a "big announcement" this Sunday in church.

Throckmorton reports that some believe that Pastor Driscoll may be taking a sabbatical, which is basically time off from the church.
