Glenn Beck Says Bill Nye’s Fight Against Creationism Is Like Church’s Persecution Of Galileo (Video)

Radio host Glenn Beck compared Bill Nye’s fight against teaching creationism in school to the Catholic Church’s persecution of Galileo.

Beck says teachers of creationism will be vindicated in the future, just like Galileo’s theory that the sun is the center of our solar system, not the earth.

On his Tuesday night show, Beck postulated that people who want to “force things on the people” will not be successful. He cited New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) who said Friday that extreme conservatives “have no place in the state of New York.”

Trying to “irradicate a certain kind of thought,” Beck said, “doesn’t work.”

Beck then played a clip of a speech 2012 speech from Bill Nye, the CEO of the Planetary Science Foundation, in which he said “teaching creationism is just dangerous and not appropriate for children.”

“And I say to the grownups,” Nye said, “if you want to deny evolution and live in your world, in your world that’s completely inconsistent with everything we observe in the universe, that’s fine, but don’t make your kids do it because we need them. We need scientifically literate voters and taxpayers for the future. We need people that can—we need engineers that can build stuff, solve problems.”

“How’s he going to look? Really?” Beck asked. “Is he going to look like the people who threw Galileo out?”
