Georgia Republican Says American Laws Must be God's Laws (Video)

Pastor and radio talk show host Jody Hice, who is the GOP nominee for a U.S. House seat in Georgia, stated that God's laws must govern the U.S. during an interview with the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) in 2003.

According to his website, in 2003, Hice opposed an "ACLU lawsuit against the Barrow County Board of Commissioners to force removal of a Ten Commandments display from the Courthouse."

Hice was being interviewed by TBN host Ben Kinchlow about the Ten Commandments case when he insisted that God's law should be the law of the land in the U.S., reports (video below).

Kinchlow began the segment by claiming that an absence of Christian principles in the U.S. government would result in mass killings instead of an orderly transition of power when the presidency changes hands, noted The Friendly Atheist.

“If we are going to remove from our society God’s basic laws, the laws from which our laws have been established and founded, our moral code has been established from God’s law here,” stated Hice. “If we remove that, then the next question is, okay, then whose law are we going to follow? Is it going to be this person over here, is it going to be that party? If we’re going to shove God’s law out of the way, then somewhere, a new set of laws will be introduced.”

It's not clear which of God's laws Hice wants Americans to follow as there are over 100 in the Book of the Leviticus alone.

Hice then complained about the judicial branch (judges) making rulings with the authority given to them by the U.S. Constitution (video below). He also warned Christians they needed to "rise up" to make people follow God's laws.

“Are we going to be a nation that is led by people who acknowledge God? Who acknowledge God’s law and acknowledge the role of God’s law in our society and the founding of our country? Or are we going to be led by people who totally reject God?” stated Hice. “It’s a frightening thing if we don’t rise up.”
