This week Dr. Bill Maier warned parents about the dangers of documentary films during his 'Family Minute' segment on FocusontheFamily.com.
"While they tell compelling, important stories, documentaries can present a view, when taken out of context, can mislead viewers, especially kids," said Dr. Maier. "The best defense against those persuasive bits of cinema is, as always, well-rounded knowledge."
"Research the topics with your kids then keep an eye on a film's persuasive techniques, and refuse to be swayed by a filmmakers' passion or intimidated by his style. Think for yourself and teach your kids to do the same. More than ever we need to develop discernment skills when it comes to media and emntertainment."
Dr. Maier did not name any specific documentaries to be wary of.
