Focus on the Family Uses 8 Year Old to Attack Obamacare (Video)

Conservatives have been attacking Obamacare almost daily as the Oct. 1 deadline to sign up for the health care reform law approaches.

Citizen Link, which is the political arm of the Christian conservative group Focus on the Family, recently produced a video hosted by Stuart Shepard and featuring an unidentified 8-year-old boy slamming Obamacare.

The video attacks Obamacare based upon estimates in the magazine Contingencies, which claimed health care premiums for 18-29 year olds could go up by 40 percent. Much of their estimates were based on 2011 numbers from the financial management group Oliver Wyman, which reportedly advised Citibank to load up on CDOs, leading to its eventual crash and federal bailout.

In the video (below), Shepard says: "Beginning in January, the federal government will begin forcing them [18-29 year olds] to either buy health insurance or pay a percentage of their income as a fine for not having it."

However, Shepard did not mention that young people could stay on their parent's health insurance policy until they turned 26, per Obamacare, noted The Washington Post.

Throughout the anti-Obamacare video, Shepard is joined by the young boy, whom he identifies as eight years old.

The boy says in the video: "Wait a minute, Obamacare is jacking up the prices?" Shepard answers "Yup."

"And I either have to pony up or pay a fine?" the boy asks.

"Uh-huh," Shepard replies.
