Tony Perkins, president of the Christian-based Family Research Council, warned yesterday that contraception would lead to "tyranny."
During his Washington Watch” radio program, Perkins was commenting on the news that the U.S. government is going to investigate 55 colleges and universities for mishandling sexual assault and harassment claims. In many instances, the schools tried to cover up the incidents and failed to report the assaults to law enforcement.
According to The Washington Post, three Ivy League schools: Harvard University, Princeton University and Dartmouth College were included on the list of 55 to be investigated.
Perkins took this opportunity to bash contraception that is available to college students, reported RightWingWatch.org (audio below).
“Contraception is made available as if it were candy which sends a message, well it’s there, it must be there for a reason, and then we’re surprised when, let me say this, this is not justification, it’s wrong, we are all responsible for our actions, but we’re surprised when people act on these outside factors that they are surrounded by,” Perkins said.
A caller then told Perkins that she saw everyday how students dressed and their attitudes at the high school she worked at.
“It leads to tyranny,” added Perkins. "This is the challenge we have when we abandon objective truth and jettison the moral law and live by an arbitrary standard that is put in place by government.”
However, rape is condemned in the Bible and by the U.S. government, which is why the federal investigation is happening.
