Penny Nance, CEO of the Christian activist group Concerned Women for America, blamed the Age of Enlightenment and Reason for the Holocaust on 'Fox & Friends' this morning (video below).
Nance and Fox News host Steve Doocy were trying to understand how President Obama’s transportation secretary nominee and Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx could proclaim May 2 a “Day of Prayer” and a “Day of Reason.”
According to Mediaite.com, this topic caused Nance to list a series of events, which she claimed led to the Holocaust.
“You know, the Age of Enlightenment and Reason gave way to moral relativism," said Nance. "And moral relativism is what led us all the way down the dark path to the Holocaust… Dark periods of history is what we arrive at when we leave God out of the equation.”
Nance did not mention the breakthroughs in science during the Age of Enlightenment and Reason.
“Penny Nance’s comment on Fox News implying that reason led to the Holocaust is not only completely inaccurate, it’s offensive to humanists and all others who value reason,” said Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association, which co-sponsored the "The Day of Reason," reports the Charlotte Observer.
