An attack on several church members has left one woman afraid to go back to a North Carolina church.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, said she and other church members were putting up crosses on their church Saturday when 52-year-old Dravko Gligoric walked up to her, began swearing at her and attacked a church member who tried to protect her.
“He said, ‘I’m going to kill you all,’” the woman told WSOC-TV.
The group called the police and locked themselves inside the church. But Gligoric managed to kick the door in.
“We all thought we would get killed,” she said. “I was just screaming and crying for my life.”
One member hit Gligoric in the face with a hammer but that didn’t stop him. Witnesses say the attacked punched people with his fists and a hammer and bit two people.
The woman says it took six men to finally hold Gligoric down. She described him as “strong as a horse.”
Gligoric is charged with assault and batter, assault with a deadly weapon and making threats. His bond was set at $3,000.
Motive for the attack is still unclear.
