The Trinity Academy, a Christian school located in Wichita, Kansas, will reportedly deny a student admission if there is an "atmosphere" or "conduct " in the student's home that promotes the LGBT "lifestyle or alternative gender identity."
The Friendly Atheist notes that the school's "Statement of Understanding and Agreement for Parent and Student" contains this passage:
Given the debate and confusion in our society about marriage and human sexuality it is vital that Trinity families agree with and support the school’s traditional, Christian understanding of those issues. Therefore, when the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home is counter to the school’s understanding of a biblical lifestyle, including the practice or promotion of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) lifestyle or alternative gender identity, the school should have the right, in its sole discretion, to deny the admission of an applicant or discontinue enrollment of a current student.
Students and parents have to sign the statement in order for the student to be admitted into the school. It's not clear how the school will determine the home's atmosphere.
The Trinity website includes more rules about "leisure-time activities" for students, which presumably take place off-campus:
The student code of conduct requires discipline; respect for authority; neatness in physical appearance; courteous and appropriate speech; abstinence from tobacco, drugs, and alcohol; and engaging in leisure-time activities that are consistent with Christian character. Students who have had an out-of-school suspension or expulsion are not allowed to apply for admission to Trinity for one full year.
On a web page describing its "Philosophy of Christian Education," Trinity says that school is an extension of the student's home:
Scripture clearly teaches that parents are responsible for their children’s education and discipline. The school is not a substitute for the home. Rather, it is an extension of the home and one means through which parents may fulfill the responsibility for education given by the Lord. Trinity Academy affirms that the Bible is authoritative, reliable, and the final source of truth.
