Child's Toy Plane Plays Islamic Chant, Family Upset (Video)

A family in Whatcom County, Washington, was shocked when their 3-year-old boy's new toy airplane recited an Islamic prayer instead of making plane sounds (video below).

"We put the batteries in and didn't get what we expected," Bjorn Thorpe, the boy's uncle, told KING 5.

"It sounds like Arabic chanting, which is pretty unusual," Thorpe added.

When the plane is turned on its lights flash, the toy rolls around and the chanting starts.

"We're kind of confused on how this would happen," Thorpe stated. "It's just kind of not the right situation to have that on a children's toy."

Nadeem Israr, president of the Islamic Society of Whatcom County, confirmed: "This is a prayer you're supposed to say when you're performing Hajj [a pilgrimage to Mecca]."

WolVol, the company that markets the plane, placed the blame on the toy's manufacturer. WolVol noted that it has a four-star rating on Amazon where the family bought the toy.

Thorpe hopes that Amazon will grant a refund so a new toy plane can be bought. Amazon did not issue any statements.

Several reviewers echoed the same problem on the Amazon page where the toy is sold:

"Not as advertised. Does not play jet noises. Plays an Arabic chant that is extremely bizarre for a child's toy."

"Just read a report of a family who bought this toy for the child as a Christmas present. But when the put the batteries in, it didn't make airplane noises. It said a prayer to that fake god, allah. A similar thing happened to a doll my boss bought for her little girl last year. It said 'allah is good' & 'allah is the true god'. I heard it myself! My boss gave it to me to destroy. I burned it in my fire pit."

"My son opened it up on Christmas morning and I was stunned to hear the sound from it. It sounded very Muslims-like. Frankly I wasn't sure it wasn't an IED! This is going back and I want a complete refund. Not realizing this I read the box and it said nothing about being a terrorist child's toy. No my son has nothing from me for Christmas."
