A recently released video shows a Catholic priest snorting cocaine in his residence on the grounds of St. Patrick’s Church in Banbridge, Northern Ireland (video below).
Father Stephen Crossan was caught talking to a friend while using the drug inside a room that included Nazi memorabilia.
“It was just the one night and that was it," Crossan told The Sun. "I do not have an issue with drugs.”
The drug use reportedly happened during a party that included some friends who were surprised to find Nazi memorabilia inside Crossan’s house.
“Stephen said he was a social worker but told us the truth when we realized he lived on church grounds," an unidentified source stated. "He’d been drinking beers and Jack Daniels as well as taking coke."
"The house was lovely but we were stunned to see the Nazi stuff. It was all over the house. At one point Stephen put on a cap and did the Nazi salute."
“It’s shocking. He’s supposed to be an upstanding member of society. He shouldn’t be taking drugs.”
Crossan countered: “I’m no Nazi. I collect historical stuff. There’s stuff there from every country.”
Crossan recalled that he was on sick leave with depression when the video was filmed.
A bishop spokesman said Crossan will receive support while dealing with his issues.
According to the Daily Mail, Crossan graduated with a theology degree in 2007 from St. Patrick’s College Maynooth in Ireland.
Crossan has also been involved in prison and hospital ministries, per the parish website.
