Anne Graham Lotz, who is the daughter of Billy Graham, warned on May 12 that evolution was animal worship and was one of the reasons God turned His back on America.
Lotz made her assertions during an interview with radio host Steve Deace, notes RightWingWatch.org:
One of the things that we pray for is that some of this craziness would settle down and our defiance of God, that we would be deeply repentant and humbled so that our nation, which seems to be shaking its fist in God’s face and telling Him to get out of our politics, get out of our schools, get out of our businesses, get out of our marketplace, get off the streets.
It's just stunning to me the way we are basically abandoning God as a culture and as a nation. Because when we do that, the Bible says God abandons us and He backs away and takes His hand of favor, blessing, His hand of protection away from us and He abandons us.
Lotz promised "there will be peace on our streets" and God would "reveal the plots of our enemies and terrorists before they are carried out" if America would repent.
"He can even control the weather patterns and protect us from these violent storms that are taking human life,” Lotz added.
Lotz said human pride and self-sufficiency were why "God allows bad things to happen" such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the San Bernardino shooting in December 2015.
Lotz went on to say that the U.S. was under God's judgment described in Romans 1 in the Bible:
Romans 1 describes a person or a nation that refuses to acknowledge God as God, refuses to thank God, exchange worship for him with a four-footed creature and animals, which is basically evolution. So we're saying there is no God, we're not accountable to God, we're not going anywhere, we came from nothing.
However, evolution does not involve worshipping animals as described in Romans 1:22-23: "Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles."
Lotz insisted that the U.S. Justice Department’s lawsuit against North Carolina's anti-LGBT law was "evidence that God has backed away and he’s removed His hand of blessing, favor, protection, and he’s just turning us over to ourselves."
There is no evidence to support this claim that God backs away and removes "His hand of blessing" in Romans 1.
