John Stemberger, one of the loudest voices urging the Boy Scouts of America not to allow gay scouts, appeared on various programs dressed in his scouting uniform while warning of the perils of openly gay scouts.
Much to his disappointment, the Boy Scouts of America voted to allow openly gay scouts earlier this year.
Stemberger recently announced a new "youth character development program for boys" that will not include gay scouts but will follow "Christian values" (video below).
According to a press release on Stemberger's website:
Our vision is to be the premier national character development organization for young men which produces Godly and responsible husbands, fathers, and citizens.
...It will be open to all boys irrespective of race, religion, ethnicity, or national origin. Parents from all faiths are welcome to place their children in the program. While boys may come from every religious background, adult leaders in the program – from the National Board level to individual unit volunteers – will adhere to a standard statement of Christian faith and values.
This new anti-gay version of Boy Scouts will be unveiled September at a convention in Nashville on September 6-7, notes GoodAsYou.org.
The new interim Executive Director of the anti-gay organization will be Rob Green, a former Boy Scout of America executive, who claimed the Boy Scouts of America's previous policy "did not prohibit gay members, or even gay leaders" and that the BSA never kicked anyone out for being gay, except for engineered expulsions by pro-gay people in "California."
