Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, recently claimed that Americans could die earlier because of Obamacare.
Gohmert was speaking on the Lars Larson radio show last week when he made his scary prediction, according to RightWingWatch.org (audio below).
“If we keep doing little fixes to [Obamacare], that also helps keep it, so I would rather postpone it as much as possible without doing little fixes," said Gohmert. “Because the little fixes could end up giving us a system where we see the mortality rate start coming down, you die earlier, not because it’s an actual death panel, but because you don’t get the treatment.”
However, Gohmert never voiced concerns over Americans who were denied treatment and coverage by insurance companies for pre-existing conditions, which the ACA no longer allows, noted MediaMatters.org.
Gohmert also shared his wisdom last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference when he was asked about income inequality, which he called a "socialist notion," noted CrooksandLiars.com (video below).
Gohmert claimed that the Apostle Paul in the Bible wanted an "income equality type thing in the early church" but later changed his mind and said, "If you don't work, you don't eat."
However, the Apostle Paul never held elective office or spoke about income equality. The "don't work, don't eat" verse is from 2 Thessalonians 3, which is about being idle and lazy, not income equality.
