Webster, Texas recently raised hackles and eyebrows when it recently decided who would be its newest council member with a simple roll of a dice.
According to KTRK-TV, the small town had to break 111-111 tie between Diana Newland and Edward Lapeyre, who were tied in their runoff election last week, based on an election rule.
The rule states that a coin flip or dice roll is the only way to break the runoff tie. The contest was decided on the third roll, which went in favor of Newland.
Lapeyre said: “Then the third one, Diana, my opponent, rolled a 5. I rolled 4. So she became the position No. 1 council person with her successful high roll.”
