Rush Limbaugh has apologized for calling Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute," but the damage to his sponsorship continues.
Limbaugh has now lost eight sponsors including Quicken Loans, Sleep Train, Sleep Number, Carbonite, Citrix Systems Inc., LegalZoom, ProFlowers and, today, AOL, the parent company of Huffington Post.
AOL said in a statement on Facebook: “At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity. We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh’s comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show."
Ironically, Limbaugh once told a caller, in 2007, he would never apologize: "I’m not going to apologize. People in my position never apologize. But we just acknowledge that you were upset and offended by it. I’ll apologize you were offended."
On Sunday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) condemned Rush Limbaugh, on CNN and CBS, for his attack on Sandra Fluke: “His remarks are totally unacceptable. Totally and completely unacceptable. And there’s no place for it."
