The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released a jobs report, last Friday, that said the unemployment rate had dropped to 7.8 percent. This was good news for most Americans, but not for conservatives who were furious.
Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch claimed the numbers has been manipulated and Rep. Allen West also claimed the numbers were fraudulent.
Even though no proof has come forward to prove these allegations, House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) told Fox News, on Wednesday, that he would hold hearings into the September job numbers (video below), reports Thinkprogress.org.
The BLS reponded in a statement: “The data are not manipulated for political reasons. I’ve been involved in the process myself for almost three decades. There’s never been any political manipulation of the data, period."
