Video: N.J. Gov. Chris Christie Criticizes Speaker John Boehner and GOP for Not Voting on Hurricane Sandy Aid

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) held a press conference in Trenton, N.J. today, where he criticized House Republicans and Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) for refusing to vote on Hurricane Sandy relief last night, after the 'fiscal cliff' vote (video below).

Gov. Christie claimed that he had been promised by House Republicans until late Tuesday night that a Hurricane Sandy relief package would be voted on, reports

Gov. Christie said: "Last night, politics was placed before our oath to serve our citizens. For me, it was disappointing and disgusting to watch. Shame on Congress... We were given assurances by everyone ... that this was going to be done."

"There is only one group to blame for the continued suffering of these innocent victims: the House majority and their Speaker, John Boehner."

Gov. Christie said that Speaker Boehner refused to return his phone calls, but added: "[Boehner] hasn't lost all credibility with me. But, right now, I think what happened last night was absolutely uncalled for and I've been given no credible explanation as to why."

"But, again, he's the Speaker of the House, and tomorrow's another day, so he can prove to me that he really does care about the people of New York and New Jersey by getting this package done."
