Video: New Mexico Republican Pat Morlen Teaches Volunteers how to Suppress Voting

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, a local GOP party has begun teaching volunteers how to challenge voters at polls.

Pat Morlen, the vice chairperson of the Sandoval County Republican Party, was caught on a hidden video (below) teaching volunteers how to demand a photo ID and make legal voters to use provisional ballots, reports

On the video, Morlen said: "You can request to see a form of ID. At the request of two or more precinct board members of different political parties, a voter shall still present the required physical form of identification."

However, only people who registered by mail and did not send in a copy of the required form of ID will have to show a physical form of ID before voting at a polling place.

At one point a volunetters asks: "What happens if we get people in there who are part of what the media is calling the purge?"

Morlen answers: "They’ll vote provisional. That’s all that’s gonna happen."

Even though New Mexico has started a voter purge of 177,000 people, those who were flagged as “inactive” voters are allowed to vote with regular ballots in November.

The video was shot by the nonprofit ProgressNow New Mexico on September 26, 2012.
