Video: Clint Eastwood Defends his RNC Speech and Gay Marriage

Clint Eastwood appeared on Tuesday’s 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' to discuss his recent controversial address at the Republican National Convention, gay marriage and his family’s reality show (video below).

Eastwood joked about his bizarre speech at the RNC: “The Democrats, who were watching, thought I was going senile, and the Republicans knew I was.”

On gay marriage, the 82-year-old actor/director said: "The condition of society right now, with the high unemployment rates and the tremendous debt we're increasing and the government spending, we'd think there'd be [many more worthy issues] to think about [rather] that worrying about gay marriage."

Eastwood also spoke about his libertarian beliefs: "You're socially liberal, leave everybody alone, but you believe in fiscal responsibility and you believe in government staying out of your life."

As for his family’s reality show, Eastwood said: “My only request was to please leave me out of it as much as possible."
