Vet Regrets Pushing Black Woman At Trump Rally (Video)

A 75-year-old veteran who was caught on video shoving a black woman at a rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 1 has apologized  (video below).

The video of Al Bamberger repeatedly pushing Shiya Nwanguma, a Black Lives Matter protester and University of Louisville student, inside the Kentucky International Convention Center went viral with accusations of racism.

Bamberger issued an apology -- not to Nwanguma, but to the Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA) which he is a member of, notes Eagle Country 99.3. The senior wrote in his apology letter:

At one point I was physically knocked down and fell to the ground, losing my jacket (which was eventually returned to me). The protestors were holding up signs, chanting 'black lives matter' and pushing and shoving Trump supporters.

Trump kept saying 'get them out, get them out' and people in the crowd began pushing and shoving the protestors. Unfortunately a lot of this behavior was happening right next to where I was standing and having been pushed to the floor myself, my emotions got the best of me, and I was caught up in the frenzy. I physically pushed a young woman down the aisle toward the exit, an action I sincerely regret.

I need everyone to know that I am not a racist as implied by many internet postings. I am not associated with any type of racist organizations and did not push the young lady because she was black. I went to the rally to have a good time, support the veterans, and see Donald Trump.

The New York Daily News notes that Nwanguma was peaceful in her protest, and that Bamberger shouted in her face how she was not welcome, and told her that "all lives matter."

The newspaper adds that white supremacist Matthew Heimbach also yelled and shoved Nwanguma during the incident.

KWVA reportedly said Bamberger did not represent their organization; he was wearing a KWVA hat and shirt.
