U.S. Delegation Walks Out on Ahmadinejad U.N. Speech

Publish date:

Delegations from the United States and several European nations walked out Thursday as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivered a speech at the United Nations filled with his usual anti-American and anti-Semitic rhetoric.

Among many things, Ahmadinejad called the 9/11 attacks "mysterious," saying the U.S. used it as a pretext to attack Afghanistan and Iraq. He also said the U.S. killed Osama bin Laden instead of investigating "hidden elements involved in September 11."

The noted Holocaust-denier claimed "European countries still use the Holocaust after six decades as the excuse to pay (a) fine or ransom to the Zionists."

In addition to the U.S., delegations from France, Germany and the United Kingdom also walked out, according to CNN. Israel and Canada did not send delegations to the speech in the first place.
