Trump Slams Fire Marshal For Limiting Crowd (Video)

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump slammed a fire marshal in Columbus, Ohio, on Aug. 1 for limiting a rally to 1,000 people (video below).

According to Mediaite, Trump told reporters the fire marshal had a political agenda:

"For political reasons, purely political reasons, they said in this massive building you’re not allowed to have any more than 1,000 people. And that’s nonsense, we could have had 4,000, 5,000 or 6,000 people, and they’ve all been turned away. You saw, it’s a disgrace.

"So that's for political reasons, they were turned away and that's too bad so we have 1,000 people in there. They won't allow any more. The fire marshal says he’s not allowed to allow any more, even though the building holds many thousands of people. I just want to tell you that. That’s politics at its lowest, and you ought to check it out, but it's really politics at its lowest."

Battalion Chief Steve Martin, of the Columbus Division of Fire, said, "That was the plan all along," tweeted ABC News reporter John Santucci.

"We feel disappointed that Mr. Trump wasn't aware of how that number was reached and that it was agreed to [by] his own people," Martin added.

Trump complained about a fire marshal at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs on July 29, reported KKTV.

"Now because of your fire marshal, who I am not a fan of, he's probably a Democrat, probably a guy than doesn't get it, I'm going to go into the other room and say hello to people that didn't get your location," Trump stated.

Brett Lacey, the fire marshal for Colorado Springs, told the news station:

"There's an old adage that when a fire marshal walks into a room, milk curdles. So because we're always looking out for public safety and trying to make that venues go off successfully and safely, sometimes there are people that aren't very happy with some of the rules and regulations that we're required to enforce. But it doesn't bother me at all."
