Trump Mocks 'Apprentice' Ratings At Prayer Breakfast (Video)

President Donald Trump mocked the ratings of NBC's show "The Apprentice," which he used to host, during the National Prayer Breakfast on Feb. 2 (video below).

Mark Burnett, the creator of "The Apprentice," introduced Trump, who quickly lit into Burnett, notes the New York Post:

We had tremendous success on "The Apprentice." When I ran for president, I had to leave the show. That's when I knew for sure I was doing it. They hired a big, big movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, to take my place, and we know how that turned out.

The ratings went right down the tubes, it’s been a total disaster. And Mark will never ever bet against Trump again. And I want to just pray for Arnold, if we can, for those ratings.

Schwarzenegger replied to the jab on Twitter: "Hey, Donald, I have a great idea. Why don’t we switch jobs. You take over TV because you’re such an expert in ratings and I take over your job and people can finally sleep comfortably." notes some of the Twitter reactions to Trump's "prayer" request:

Trump is mocking Arnold for his Apprentice ratings at the National Prayer Breakfast. Next he'll bash Jesus for only having 12 followers.

"I don't think even Jesus could've gotten my ratings on the apprentice.." – trump, probably.

Pretty sure Trump yelled at the Australian Prime Minister because he saw that Arnold is an Austrian-American on his Wikipedia page.

Trump at national prayer breakfast talking about the Apprentice and Arnold's terrible ratings. He is straight up mentally ill.

Remember they called Obama a narcissist.

Wait…there's a dead marine from a mission in Yemen….and Trump prays for Arnold Schwarzenegger and the apprentice…AT A PRAYER SERVICE!!

Trump go no laughs at his Arnold S. Apprentice joke. This man had no idea what he's doing or saying.

What I don't understand: you're a religious, evangelist Christian and you support Trump. He just used a National Prayer to mock Arnold.

Trump also dinged Schwarzenegger on the show's ratings in January, but the Vulture noted that the reality series' audience had been going downhill for some time.

Trump's last season, which began in 2014, ranked 67th and pulled in fewer eyeballs than shows that were canceled, such as "Battle Creek" and "State of Affairs."

That same season, "The Apprentice" trailed other TV reality series, including "The Voice," "American Idol," "America’s Got Talent," "Dancing With the Stars," "Big Brother" and "Shark Tank."
