President Barack Obama is hitting the campaign trail for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, but Donald Trump wants to remind taxpayers who's paying for those trips.
“Taxpayers are paying a fortune for the use of Air Force One on the campaign trail by President Obama and Crooked Hillary. A total disgrace!” tweeted the presumptive Republican nominee on July 4.
He added: "Why is President Obama allowed to use Air Force One on the campaign trail with Crooked Hillary? She is flying with him tomorrow. Who pays?"
Air Force One trips are expensive. According to documents obtained by Judicial Watch and reported on in the Washington Examiner, one hour of flight time on the presidential aircraft costs more than $200,000.
The Clinton campaign or the Democratic National Committee will have to pay a portion of the trip's cost because Obama is traveling on behalf of Clinton, according to CNN. It's not clear how much will be reimbursed.
To help ensure a Democratic victory in November, Obama is expected to campaign vigorously for Clinton, who hasn't gained much traction in the polls and has been dogged by FBI investigations. The costs of Obama's travel for Clinton are expected to be shared.
Their first joint appearance took place on July 5 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Trump is scheduled to have his own rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, on July 5 to compete with the Obama-Clinton rally.
