A day after it was revealed first daughter Ivanka Trump charmed disgruntled neighbors in Washington D.C., with baked goods, her children treated Secret Service members to a tray of goodies on April 28.
Trump's husband, Jared Kushner, and two of the couple's children, 5-year-old Arabella and 3-year-old Joseph, were seen handing over the tray to Secret Service agents guarding the family's house, the Daily Mail reports.
A smiling Joseph carried the tray while his sister marched along, eating away. Later, their father left for his job at the White House.
A day earlier, Ivanka reportedly used a similar tactic to win over upset neighbors who complained about the complications the Secret Service posed.
"She knocked on each of her neighbors’ doors with stealth weapons in tow: her children and baked goods," The Financial Times reports.
Her move was reportedly highly effective.
"Lovely, just lovely," said neighbor Rhona Friedman, a lawyer, who had been wary of the president's daughter and her family. "People who know her say the same thing: that she’s very gracious."
But the gesture provoked mixed reactions on social media. Some viewed Ivanka's act with suspicion.
"All choreographed and all for show," wrote one Daily Mail reader. "A little distraction while papa decimates hard-won protections. A little distraction from R uss ia. They're on a charm offensive to win some friends because nobody likes or trusts them."
"Oh look another Trump family photo-op!" said another. "How lovely to use their children like this."
"Too bad no one ever heard of them showing all these kind gesture to the millions of poor and homeless people on the streets of NY," quipped another. "This is too much."
Others were critical of those who had harsh words for Trump and Kushner.
"If you always look at any events with a negative eye before long you know no other way to see things," shot back one person on Conservative Daily's Facebook page. "I actually feel a little sorry for the haters. If they spent as much time making a positive difference than always complaining and hating what a great place this could be. I would be honored to have Ivanka and her family in my neighborhood."
Many agreed and applauded Ivanka.
"People rush to judgment before they know anything about an individual," added another. "I do not know Ivanka Trump, but she appears to be an intelligent, successful, lovely, gracious woman."
"I'm by no means a Trump fan but there's something so likable about Ivanka and her husband," agreed another.
