Despite trailing in the polls for most of the 2016 presidential campaign, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump now has several paths to victory.
Trump has been projected to win the crucial swing states of Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina, according to CNN. And as of 12:15 a.m. EST, he is leading in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania -- all states that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was widely expected to comfortably win.
But so far, Trump has done everything he needs to do to win the presidency.
As The Washington Post points out, Trump has won the states he absolutely must win to be able to reach the necessary 270 electoral college votes, which are Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina.
Results have yet to come in for Nevada and Arizona. Trump also needs those states to get to 270, but they are traditionally Republican states that have been becoming more Democratic in recent elections, making them somewhat swing states.
