Trump Doubles Down, Says Putin Is Better Than Obama

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said President Barack Obama is not as good of a leader as Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Putin has much better leadership qualities than Obama,” Trump told Fox News. “I said he’s a better leader than Obama, because Obama’s not a leader, so he’s certainly doing a better job than Obama is, and that’s all.”

On July 27, Trump gave a press conference in Doral, Florida, and made headlines when he said that Russia should hack into Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's computer to find the 33,000 emails that were deleted before Clinton's email stash could be turned over to the FBI for an investigation.

“Russia, if you're listening, I hope you’ll be able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “I think you’ll probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

Although the U.S. government has not provided any evidence, Russia has been blamed for the recent hack into the Democratic National Committee's computer system that copied more than 20,000 emails between high-ranking DNC officials and were released by WikiLeaks.

And on Fox News, Trump cleared up his words, reports The New York Times.

“Of course, I’m being sarcastic,” Trump said. “But you have 33,000 emails deleted, and the real problem is what was said in those emails from the Democratic National Committee. You take a look at what was said in those emails, it’s disgraceful. It’s disgraceful.”

The emails published by WikiLeaks revealed the DNC's bias against Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont during the Democratic primary and led to the resignation of chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said his organization plans to publish “a lot more material” about the U.S. election, reported CNN.
