Donald Trump has aimed his aggression at a new target.
The inflammatory Republican presidential candidate took to Twitter over the weekend to blast his fellow candidate, Carly Fiorina, claiming she has “zero chance” in winning the nomination, reports CBS News.
"I just realized that if you listen to Carly Fiorina for more than teh minutes straight, you develop a massive headache," Trump’s Twitter post read. Ironically, just after the Aug. 6 debate, Trump had called Fiorina "an effective debater," reports CBS News.
Clashes began between the two Republican presidential hopefuls on Aug. 7 when Trump suggested harsh words from the Fox News debate moderator Megyn Kelly were a result of hormones and "blood coming out of her wherever."
Fiorina fired back at the billionaire, tweeting, “Mr. Trump: There. Is. No. Excuse.” The sole female GOP candidate continued to speak harshly of Trump in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation” that aired Aug. 9.
"I think women of all kinds are really sort of horrified by this," Fiorina told the show’s host, John Dickerson. "Mr. Trump got asked tough questions by a lot of people on Thursday night, but he chose to attack Megyn Kelly."
Fiorina added, "I think you cannot have a president who is thin-skinned."
Despite his stream of controversial statements, Trump remains at the top of the polls, reports NBC News.
In a NBC News online poll, Republican primary voters revealed they would choose Trump if the primary were being held right now. The billionaire took the lead with 23 percent, 10 percent higher than the next candidate on the list, Sen. Ted Cruz.
Trump’s supporters are apparently loyal. The poll showed that 54 percent of Trump’s supporters would still vote for him for president if he lost the GOP nomination and chose to run as an independent candidate.
Perhaps the most surprising result of the poll was who voters thought won the first Republican debate on Aug. 6. Fiorina topped the poll with 22 percent, beating out even Trump, documents NBC News.
