Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he doesn’t think opponent Ben Carson has the experience necessary to be president.
“It’s not his thing. He doesn’t have the temperament for it,” Trump told George Stephanopoulos on ABC News’ "Good Morning America." “I think Ben just doesn’t have the experience.”
Trump also went after Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida during the interview.
“I’m not a fan. I think he’s overrated,” the billionaire real estate developer said.
It was an echo of other comments Trump has made about Rubio, who some regard as an establishment alternative to so-called outsiders like Trump and Carson, reports ABC News.
Responding to questions during an appearance on Bloomberg’s “With All Due Respect," Trump rejected the notion that Rubio is a “candidate on the rise.”
“Look, I think he’s highly overrated,” Trump said. “I think he’s an overrated person. I don’t think he’s going to make it. I said at one point he was a lightweight and I don’t mean to be insulting, but I do describe people somehow well. I described Jeb Bush as a low energy individual and unfortunately for him that stuck.”
And again, Trump seems to have no shortage of criticism for Carson who, according to Fox News, recently out performed Trump in a national Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll with 29 percent support to Trump’s 23 percent.
“I like Ben, but Ben can't do the job, I mean there's no question about it,” Trump told Fox News in the wake of the poll’s release. “He's not going to be able to negotiate with China. It's not his thing ... It's not in his wheelhouse, he's never done it before, and I don't think it's, you know, meant for him.”
