Sheldon Adelson, the largest GOP donor, said Tuesday that the United States should drop a nuclear bomb on Iran in an effort to end the country’s nuclear program.
“It’s the only thing they understand,” Adelson said.
Adelson believes negotiating would be a sign of weakness.
The billionaire casino mogul said on a Yeshiva University panel that the bomb should only hit a targeted desert area where it would kill “a couple of rattlesnakes, and scorpions, or whatever” as a warning.
“Then you say, ‘See! The next one is in the middle of Tehran. So, we mean business,” Adelson said. “You want to be wiped out? Go ahead and take a tough position and continue with your nuclear development.”
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Adelson gave $92.8 million to political groups during the 2012 election cycle. He kept the Newt Gingrich super PAC afloat during elections, and later donated to Mitt Romney.
Adelson has also donated $1.5 million to the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a nonpartisan think tank that pushes for immediate and stiffer sanctions in Iran.
