Texas Republican: Trump's Border Wall Is Ridiculous (Video)

Republican Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas admitted on July 21 that the border wall idea proposed by his own party's nominee for president, Donald Trump, is ridiculous (video below).

Farenthold told MSNBC host Chris Hayes that the Republican Party is the "big tent party," and the "party of colorblindness," notes website Crooks and Liars.

April Ryan, a reporter for American Urban Radio Networks, mentioned that Trump wants to build a giant border wall and makes off-color remarks about African-Americans.

"The wall isn't about race or national origin, it's about keeping the country safe, it's about keeping the terrorists out, it's about keeping drug dealers out," Farenthold insisted.

"It's a 2,000 mile stretch of wall, a border," Ryan countered. "Are you gonna put a wall along that whole border with a pretty door?"

"Listen, I'm a Texan and I realize in the rural areas there's no point in wasting money on the fence," Farenthold conceded.

Moments later, Hayes asked Farenthold, "Please just acknowledge the fact that the Texan delegation, Texans I've talked to, think the idea of a wall is ridiculous."

"Correct," Farenthold replied. "Cost only kills you. For the two miles of wall you can get a predator drone."

In more RNC news, former GOP operative Nicole Wallace, now a political analyst for NBC News, announced near the end of the RNC convention on July 21 that the Republican Party that she knew had died, notes Raw Story:

You know, listening to this, I was struck by two things I always believed during my two decades in the Republican politics. One, the voters always get it right. And two, the Republican Party that I worked for for two decades died in this room tonight.

We are now represented as a party by a man who believes in protectionism, isolationism and nativism. And those are the forces that George W. Bush and, I believe John McCain too, were most worried about during their times as the leaders of the Republican Party.

...Well, the voters picked this guy, this is where the Republican Party is now. They now are attracted to those forces of isolationism and protectionism. But the party I was part of for two decades is dead.
