Ted Cruz: Obamacare Must Be Defunded Because Everyone Said It Couldn’t Be Done, Like ‘Going To The Moon’

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday that the Obamacare has to be defunded because everyone said it couldn’t be done.

Cruz failed to answer several questions from host David Gregory when asked to explain his position if 56 percent of the Amrican people are in favor the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

“Obamacare has been legislated, it has been adjudicated and it has been tested to the political system,” Gregory said. “There are not protests in the streets arguing to do away with this law in the way that you’d like. Again 56% in one poll said let’s uphold the law. I’m focusing on results. Where have you moved anything?”

Cruz repeatedly responded that many Americans no longer support Obamacare.

“Do you regret comparing the future of Obamacare to the rise of Hitler in Nazi Germany?” Gregory asked.

“Well, the premise of your question isn’t true,” Cruz responded, “I didn’t make that comparison. What I said is that there have been many voices in Washington who said that ‘We can’t do this, we can’t do this, we can’t do this’ and I went through the centuries wear over and over again when facing big challenges Americans have risen to the occasion, whether it was the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWII, whether it was going to the moon under John F. Kennedy or whether it was winning the Cold War.”

“If we empower the American people,” he continued, “to get Washington to listen to the people, that’s how we get this changed.”

"Do you ride this to the presidential nomination?" Gregory asked.

Cruz laughed and said, "It's easy for Washington to focus on politics. I understand. That's the business of this town."
